Little Red Rodney Hood: Chapter Oneby Sarah disclaimer: none of the characters are mine, but i tell you what, if they were...yeah. anyway! all mistakes are mine, i beta'd this myself at work. this is an idiotic PG AU. enjoy!Once upon a time there was a man named Rodney McKay, but no one (except his mother) ever called him by his name. He was known throughout the forest where he (still) lived with his mother as 'Red' because of the red hoodie he always wore where ever he went. He resented living with his mother but he had no choice at the moment because he was between jobs and, let's face it, there aren't a lot of jobs for a genius in the middle of the woods. But I digress. Red was sitting upstairs in his room, IMing his friend 'Flyboy' on the computer. They had met on a geeky mathematics website and liked to have races solving complicated equations. His mother, Elizabeth, interrupted his conversation. "Rodney!" she called up the stairs. "Throw down your dirty laundry."Red rolled his eyes. 'Brb', he typed to Flyboy. Then to his mother he yelled, "I did my laundry last night while you were out with that dork, Radek. The only things left are my other hoodie and your hoopskirt.""Alright," she yelled back, ignoring the dork comment. "In a little bit I need you to take out the trash and then go take some food I made over to Gramma Teyla, she's been under the weather the last couple of days.""Gramma Teyla? Mom, I hate going over there, she always asks me how my karate class is going and I just can't tell her that I haven't been in karate since 8th grade.""That's your fault for not telling her the truth the first time she asked." said Elizabeth. "Now get off the computer and get busy.""Fine." he sighed, and turned back to the screen.RedGenius: i'm back, but i have to go check on my grandmother, apparently she's sick.Flyboy: TTYL, then?RedGenius: i guess. i should be back by 4 or 5.Flyboy: alright, i'll be hereRedGenius: byeRed got up and stretched, flexing his fingers. His left thumb had developed a funny clicking sound over the past few weeks. 'My hand is messed up,' he thought to himself as he headed downstairs to gather up garbage.Elizabeth was busy at the kitchen counter, putting a covered dish of casserole and a plastic bag of muffins into a good-sized basket. Then she set a plate of food for Rodney on the table before he went on his way to Teyla's. She knew he'd be less likely to get into the basket of goodies if he had just eaten.TBC!
